boston winter

The season of cheer is here! While the weather may be chilly and the sun sets a bit too early, winter in Boston is a truly magical time. Whether you’re visiting family in Boston for the holidays or looking to experience a true winter wonderland this chilly season, there’s so much to do in the city. Read on for a few ideas on how you should spend your holidays in Seaport.

  • The Holiday Market at Snowport

The 2nd annual open air Holiday Market at Snowport has officially opened for the season! The market features over 120 local craftsmen, pop-up stores, and eateries in addition to a tree market and festive decor. Grab a custom cocktail from the bar and wander through the booths to purchase unique gifts for your loved ones—and maybe even a little something for yourself—before stopping for a bite to eat at one of the many local restaurants pop-ups. The market is open daily and located in the heart of the Seaport.

  • One Seaport

If you weren’t able to cross everyone off your list at the Snowport Markets, stop in nearby One Seaport. Comprised of two city blocks, this area is known for being the highest concentration of retail space in the neighborhood. With a wide variety of stores, restaurants, fitness studios, and entertainment experiences, you’ll find that you never want to leave. The area is worth a visit in the evening too as it is uniquely decorated with lights during the winter months.

  • Harpoon Brewery

A local favorite, you can always count on Harpoon Brewery to host a fun holiday event. This year, the brewery is celebrating the winter months with Harpoon Helps Spread Holiday Cheer. This December, join them to kick-off the holiday season with wreath making, sugar cookie decorating, ornament making, and a make-you-own hot cocoa bar all while you sip on a seasonal beer.

  • Institute of Contemporary Art

Year round, one of our favorite things to do in Seaport is visit the Institute of Contemporary Art. But, the museum makes the winter months even more inviting by hosting seasonal events that are free and open to the public. This year, stop by the ICA Harbor Market to support local artisans, shop handmade goods, and enjoy live music. Or, if you happen to time it right, attend First Fridays: Winter Whateverland, a creative contemporary holiday blowout featuring art, performance, winter cocktails, and local music.

  • Lookout Rooftop

Located right along the water is Lookout Rooftop, a sky high bar that offers stunning views of the Boston skyline as well as the harbor. During the winter, they pull out the oversized igloos creating a unique dining experience. Each heated igloo can fit up to ten people and may be reserved for a maximum of two hours—here’s your chance to cozy up with specialty cocktails and small plates as you create unforgettable memories.
