If you’re looking for an authentic Boston experience, come celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with us! Boston is well known for its Irish roots, dating back to the 19th century when a large wave of Irish immigrants flooded Boston’s port due to the Great Irish Famine. Since then, Irish culture has been embedded into Boston’s fabric and is reflected in our city’s iconic neighborhoods, architecture, events, and dining.

Boston’s Hampton Inn and Homewood Suites would love to host you this St. Patty’s Day, March 17th, 2023. Known as one of Boston’s premiere hotels located in the Seaport District, you’ll be moments away from the heart of celebrations. This year, the Boston community has numerous exciting events and activities planned around the Greater Boston Area. Explore opportunities available to you and your family and friends!

St. Patrick’s Day Parade

Not to be missed, this historic parade dates back to March 17th, 1737. Irish immigrants inaugurated the event as a way to display solidarity with their new home in Boston and honor the Patron Saint of Ireland. Flash forward to modern times, this event continues to draw up to one million spectators in South Boston. Its meaning has also expanded, as it now pays homage to the importance of Evacuation Day when British forces left Boston in 1776. Colorful floats, pipe and drum bands, and energetic crowds line the streets, painting it a hue of emerald green.

Stay in our Boston Seaport hotel, to be minutes from the parade route. Follow the 2023 map to navigate where to catch the action within the 3.5-mile route. If you’re not looking to go too far from Boston’s Hampton Inn and Homewood Suites, catch the parade at the beginning of its journey at the Broadway T stop (Red Line).

Raise An Ol’ Guinness Glass

Cheers to St. Patty’s Day with a classic Guinness in hand. Boston is home to a variety of pubs and local breweries, and what better place to celebrate in green than with a proper Guinness. Discover authentic Irish pubs, all within close proximity to Boston’s Hampton Inn & Homewood Suites.

Include The Black Rose on your pubcrawl list! Located in Boston’s historic Faneuil Hall and steps from the city’s beloved waterfront, enjoy a pint—or two—while listening to spectacular Irish musicians and even grabbing a slice of corn beef. If Guinness happens not to be your cup of brew, try out Lord Hobo, a favorite brewery in the Seaport District. And for a unique experience, try out Boston’s Hampton Inn & Homewood Suites Pour-My-Beer-System. Taste numerous brews, at your own pace and preferred amount.

Boston’s Irish Heritage Trail

It’s time to get your history on this St. Patrick’s Day! Put on a coat, lace up your sneakers, and hop on the Irish Historic Trail in downtown Boston. The trail starts at the luscious Rose Kennedy Rose Garden, just 10 minutes driving distance from Boston’s Hampton Inn & Homewood Suites. The trail continues across downtown neighborhoods and ends in Fenway Park.

Along the way, you’ll visit statues, monuments, and buildings such as the Boston Irish Famine Memorial and the Massachusetts State House. This perfect St. Patrick’s Day activity is a self-guided tour, allowing you to come and go as you please. Should you need a mid-day break from the trail, you can quickly come back to our hotel to rest before having a night on the town.
